Rennaisance Wrestler

Steve Mocco is a 2008 U.S. Olympian, two-time NCAA Champion, four-time NCAA finalist, and Dan Hodge Trophy winner—one of the most decorated American heavyweights of his era. He won national titles at both Iowa and Oklahoma State, compiling a 137–6 collegiate record and a reputation for punishing ties and precision foot sweeps. Internationally, he added multiple Pan American titles and marquee wins on the world circuit.

After competition, Mocco became a sought-after coach, serving as Head Wrestling Coach for American Top Team’s pros and founding Mocco Wrestling Academy. He has also coached at the collegiate level (including a stint assisting at Lehigh) and regularly runs high-level clinics nationwide. His mat-side presence blends elite technical depth with an intense, clear teaching style that transfers immediately to athletes of all ages.

Mocco is available for seminars focused on the exact skill set that made him elite: relentless hand-fighting that creates scores, high-percentage foot/leg sweeps, and airtight takedown defense with re-attacks. He organizes these concepts into clear, progressive systems for wrestlers, MMA fighters, and jiu-jitsu athletes, emphasizing timing, grip sequences, and day-one application. Bring him in to upgrade your room’s scoring from ties, raise finish rates in the clinch, and make your athletes far harder to take down.
